NOURISH
Nutritious foods are essential for everyone, but are particularly important for children. In early childhood, enough food means appropriate growth, proper organ formation and function, a strong immune system, and on-track neurological and cognitive development. As those children grow into adults, nutrition becomes an integral part of economic development. Well-nourished people can learn new skills, think critically, work hard and contribute to their communities.
On the flip side, child malnutrition hurts cognitive function and contributes to poverty by disrupting people’s ability to lead productive lives. Poverty is the leading cause of hunger, but poverty also results from hunger. Check out this cyclical relationship in the diagram below.
At Thrive Nica, we work with our partners on the ground to provide tasty and nutritious meals to both children and adults. Your donation can help create a better tomorrow for Nicaraguan families.
